TVS offers a wide range of motorcycles and scooters, with prices starting at Rs. 45,999. Among its 19 models, the Apache RTR 160, Raider 125, and Jupiter scooter are particularly popular. Furthermore, enthusiasts eagerly anticipate upcoming releases like the Apache RTX 300, XL EV, and Jupiter Electric. Notably, the Apache RR 310 stands as the priciest model, at Rs. 2,75,000.  

Initially, T. V. Sundaram Iyengar, born in 1877, founded TVS. Specifically, in 1911, he established T.V. Sundaram Iyengar and Sons Limited, a transportation firm operating a large fleet of trucks and buses under the name Southern Roadways Limited. In addition, he pioneered Madurai’s first bus service. Subsequently, after his death in 1955, his sons diversified the company into other automotive sectors, including finance, insurance, and the manufacturing of tires, two-wheelers, and components.  

Then, in 1978, the company established a moped manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Following this, in 1980, the TVS 50, India’s first two-seater moped, rolled out of this Hosur plant. Moreover, a 19-year partnership with Suzuki proved to be a significant turning point. Indeed, this collaboration facilitated technology transfer and enabled the design and production of two-wheelers tailored to the Indian market. During this time, the company, then known as TVS-Suzuki, launched successful models like the Suzuki Fiero, Shogun, and Samurai. Later, after the Suzuki partnership ended in 2001, the company changed its name.  

Also, TVS’s involvement in the Dakar Rally demonstrates their commitment to motorsports. Particularly, in 2015, their racing division made history by becoming the first factory team from India to compete in this challenging and prestigious event. Correspondingly, the team partnered with French motorcycle manufacturer Sherco and was renamed the Sherco TVS Rally Factory squad.
